Let's Go Hunting

There is something going on in the country right now and neither the democrats or the establishment republicans like it. The tea party has started kicking the RINOs out of office in the primary elections and will soon set their sights on getting the democrats in the general election. Neither side of the aisle likes this because it means that they are losing their grip on the elite political class and are having to give power back to the people.

The tea party is doing it the right way too. They did not crate a third party, which would be the death of both tea party ideals and the republican establishment. Instead they are changing the culture from inside the republican party.

Kill the Golden Goose

Why is it that statists hate capitalism even though they use it to make themselves wealthy? There are so many in the left-wing elite that have decided that they have "gotten theirs" so now we need to bring down the system. There are others who benefit greatly from the incredible increase in the standard of living for all of the citizens in this great nation due to capitalism and yet they decry it as evil.

They fail to realize that free market capitalism is the most just economic system ever created. Capitalism has created the most wealth for more people in history. In no other system is the standard of living higher for the majority of their citizens than under capitalism. The US is also the most charitable nation in the world.

The greatest thing about capitalism in a free society, as it was for the first 150 years of our nation and is in most part today, has to be the fact that it is truly classless. It's not as it is in socialism where there is the ruling class and the working class and it is nearly impossible to move into the latter. In fact most people who are successful in the US have come from virtually nothing. J.C. Penny came from poverty and then went on to start one of the worlds largest retail chains. J.C. Penny also serves as another great example of capitalism, they didn't stay at the top. Someone else eventually came along, whether it was K-Mart and then Wal-Mart, who was more passionate and innovative.

Even people who don't go on to start their own businesses move in and out of income ranges. More than half of all people making minimum wage are between 16 and 24 years old, meaning as they get older and gain more experience their labor becomes more valuable. Also, 95% of individuals that start their life in the bottom 20% of income earners will not end up there. In fact more than 30% will end up in the top 40% of wage earners.

The statistics in this post where gathered from "Basic Economics" by Thomas Sowell

Silver Bullet

Obama has said, on several occasions, that there is no "silver bullet" that can bring down gas prices. He wants us to believe that there is no policy that he, or congress, can enact that can lower gas prices even though he is considering opening up the United State's Strategic Oil Reserves so that he can increase the supply of oil before the election to drive down prices. It is clear that he understands that more supply would cause prices to go down, the "silver bullet."

The problem is that Obama only wants a short term fix in gas prices. He has admitted that he wants gas prices to rise so that automakers are forced to make more gas efficient cars (like in the video below).

It is his intentions to move forward with policies that would cause gas prices to raise. Policy makers are keeping supply low by not letting oil companies drill where we know that there are large reserves of oil. Regulations also make it almost impossible and incredibly expensive to refine oil. When something costs more to produce, producers are forced to pass those higher prices on to consumers or go out of business.

Have Each Other's Back

Obama was on the campaign trail again. He was at Fort Stewart talking about "having each other's back." I found it quite funny considering the fact that obama had wanted to cut spending on military benefits, yet didn't propose any cuts on any public sector union benefits. I am sorry, but spending cuts on the military should be last in line. Especially cuts to the benefits of our veterans and our service men and women. They are risking their lives to protect us and have earned everything that they are given.

It is also funny that in his speech, part of which you can watch in the clip bellow, he talks about all the ways that we, as a society, have each other's back. What he is talking about is the civil society, something he seeks to replace with a government run society. For generations American's looked after one another through their communities, neighborhoods, and churches. This idea that government is the entity to look after people is a relatively new idea in America and has been slowly growing since the "regressive" movement began in the early twentieth century. What Obama is doing here is talking about things that all Americans can agree on, the civil society, but he then proceeds to slip in his true agenda. He moves from talking about individuals looking out for each other to using the government to look out for everyone. This is just another example, in a long string of examples, of the left using subversive rhetoric to appeal to Americans so they can institute their utopia, top-down government run tyranny.

I reference the last two minutes of the speech. From 8:00 on.

If I wanted America to Fail

I came across this video yesterday. It is absolutely brilliant and extremely well produced. It is a very common sense look at how to destroy wealth and prosperity by subverting the free market that has made this nation so great. It highlights some of the disastrous policies and misinformation that the left has used for the last 100 years.

If you get a chance you need to go to their website freemarketamerica.org. They have some other good videos there.

Buffett Rule

I haven't had a lot of opportunities to get on Blogger in the last month so I am just now publishing this cartoon. I made it before the Buffett rule was, thankfully, voted down but felt it necessary to still post it to illustrate how foolish it is to believe that more taxes will somehow help the deficit. At this point the deficit is so huge and spending is so out of control that no amount of taxation will fix the problem. The national debt is now larger than our Nation's GDP. In essence, if the government where to confiscate all the wealth of the US for one whole year, we still wouldn't be able to pay down the national debt. The last time the national debt was larger than the GDP was during WWII. One thing to note about that is the fact that FDR, arguably the most "regressive" president in our Nation's history until Barack Obama, was the president at the time.

The answer to the problem is not taxation, it is spending cuts. We need to start cutting programs and bureaucracies now, and in doing so, will create freedom and wealth for more people.

The Regressive Left

I recently read Ameritopia by Mark Levin and in it he quoted the political philosopher Montesquieu:

There are two sorts of tyranny: a real one, which consists in the violence of the government, and one of opinion, which is felt when those who govern establish things that run counter to a nation’s way of thinking.

The latter is what is happening in the country today. The first of the progressives (they will be referred to as regressives henceforth) where smart. Not only did they begin instituting their beliefs slowly, they also put forth constitutional amendments that, at first seeming relatively innocent, would later be used to dramatically effect liberty in this country (amendments 16 & 17 passed in 1913 during the presidency of Woodrow Wilson). Then the regressives, through institutional indoctrination, would start to slowly transform the nation's way of thinking.

Today, there is a growing minority, one that has been carefully nurtured for the last 100 years, of malcontents. These malcontents are being used in a myriad of ways. Some are going on to become teachers at all levels (particularly in universities) so they can populate future generations with their dogma. Some are going on to work in the main stream media outlets so that the dogma can be perpetuated through biased and selective journalism. Some are going on to work in politics so they can "fundamentally change America" through legislation. Some are going on to work in the judiciary so they can "fundamentally change America" through judicial fiat. The rest of the malcontents are out in the general population voting and agitating. They are the "sheeple" being led by the "shepherds" in the first four groups to push their agenda forward "Alynsky" style.

The leaders in the regressive movement must have been familiar with Montesquieu, for they use his writings as the antithesis for their beliefs.

Political Audible

I want to start by saying that what happened to Treyvon Martin is a tragedy and our condolences are with his family. That being said, the politicalization of his death is an even bigger tragedy. Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and the rest of the race hustlers are down in Florida making this killing a race issue when it clearly is not. Even Obama has jumped into the fold and is using it as a political distraction. The most important supreme court case of our generation is being heard right now and the leftwing-media-complex is devoting large portions of air time to this murder case. By blowing the details of this case out of proportion, the media has manufactured a circus in Florida to distract people from the larger, more important issues of the day.

Again, I don't want to downplay the shooting. It is a tragedy just as all the other murder cases that are getting no national coverage are.

America is a Liberal Idea

hat tip therightscoop.com for the video

There is only one thing that Jesse Jackson says in ALL of this that is true. America is a Liberal idea. Just not in the sense that he is talking about. The word liberal means: of or pertaining to liberty, or of a free man. The modern day use of the word liberal is in complete contradiction to the true meaning of the word. Liberal ideas are about individual liberty while people like Jesse Jackson believe that liberty belongs to the government so that it will have the freedom to organize society.

Let's break down what Jesse Jackson is saying paragraph by paragraph:

America is a liberal idea. How can you have in our country that is based upon liberality and liberation, be so anti-liberal. That’s toxic waste to our consciousness. It’s hard to be an American conservative because that’s a contradiction in terms.

Modern conservatives are only "anti-liberal" as far as the modern use of the word goes. It is todays grass roots conservatives, such as the tea partiers, that are liberal in the true sense of the word. Modern conservatives believe in liberation from government coercion, just as the founding fathers did. It is also true that "American conservative" is a contradiction in terms because todays conservatives don't seek to conserve the status quo like the term would indicate. Modern conservatives instead seek to conserve the founding principles of our nation, which we have strayed too far away from.

I know it seems like I am arguing symantics here, but there is a very important point to be made here that I will get to.

Now if you take away freedom of speech, freedom of press, freedom of protest, and lock people out based upon their race, their language and their religion, that’s conservative and fascist. America is a liberal idea. It’s the idea of human rights for all human beings measured by one yard stick – was threatening to tyranny.

He is right in that first sentence, if you take away all those things it is the road to fascism. The only problem with that is that it is the political left that seeks to do those things. The left is trying to control free speech with the fairness doctrine. The left owns most of the press and the media in this country and spews it's propaganda. And it is most certainly only the left that makes race an issue in this day and age. People like Jesse Jackson are the racists in this country. It is in Jesse Jackson's personal self interest that racism persist in this country. If racism went away then he would be unemployed. His whole career is about manufacturing false racism.

It is the modern day conservative, the tea party, that believes that we are all created equal and that we should be measured by "one yardstick." We believe that everyone, no matter their race or gender, should have equal opportunity, not that we should end up equal. We have freedom of choice in this country which leads people to make different decisions, which leads to different outcomes. Even if there was a way to generate equal outcomes, which there isn't, it could only be done through force and coercion by government.

That’s why the most revolutionary rule in the Bible is the Golden Rule. It is the most threatening rule to tyranny you can imagine. For those who are driven by inheritance or privilege as opposed to work and sacrifice, it’s a very threatening rule.

Well, there's not a lot you can say about this statement but "do unto others as you would have them do unto you" hasn't been revolutionary since Jesus said it. Though I guess you could say that the fact that it is followed the most in free market capitalism is revolutionary to Jesse Jackson. Free market capitalism uses voluntary exchange. In a free market one individual cannot be forced to buy a product or service from another individual, both parties make transactions on terms that are mutually agreeable.

Another aspect about free market capitalism is that inherited wealth means nothing. Most of today's wealthy are not that way because they or their family members where wealthy 50 or 100 years ago. They built their wealth through innovation and hard work. In no other political or economical system is this possible.

You got something to fight for. It’s the agenda!

I mean the agenda is before us. So if you must occupy, define occupation so it’s not a nebulous term. Fighting for easier access to education and the right to vote and the right to health care is a fight worth fighting. And that may very well be as the winter thaws…this is the fight of our future.

In this statement he talks about "easy access to education" and the "right to vote" as if these are even issues. Every citizen 18 years or older can vote as long as they register to do so and anyone can get an education in this country. Public schools are paid for by taxes, junior colleges are relatively inexpensive, and just about everyone will get approved for a student loan to go to a university. Access to education is definitely not a problem in this country.

Mr. Jackson also talks about a "right to healthcare." The reason this is not a right is because it would give the government too much control over our lives, bankrupt the nation financially, and could only be made possible by stealing from some people to give to others.

The main reason for my dissecting this video is how Jesse Jackson uses the word liberal. The left-wing statists have hyjacked this word for this very reason. When Mr. Jackson starts off by saying that this country is a liberal idea he controls the argument because, based on the true definition of the word, he is right. But he doesn't use the word as it is traditionally defined. Framing the argument on their terms has long been a tactic of the left and the free thinking individuals of this nation need to stop allowing them to do it. When we call them "liberals" or "progressives" we put the ball in their court by allowing them to control the vocabulary. And when they control the vocabulary, they control the argument, no matter how wrong they are.

Rock & Roll Racism

Apparently listening to rock music makes white people racist. A recent study at the University of Minnesota concluded that listening to rock music such as "Bruce Springsteen (really?!) and the White Stripes causes white people to favor their own race at a detriment to others."

Does this leave anyone else as perplexed as it does me? Some of the biggest names in the history of Rock and Roll have been black. In the cartoon I included Chuck Berry, Jimi Hendrix, and Slash from Guns 'N Roses because they are all black (Slash being half Jewish) and they come from different generations of rock music. I also selected them because they are also some of my favorite musicians.

Rock music was one of the first establishments in American pop culture to break through racial barriers. Some could say that Chuck Berry was the pioneer of rock. John Lennon once said, "if you had to give rock and roll another name, you might call it Chuck Berry."

Not only is this study completely irresponsible because it aims to cause bigger gaps in the racial divide, it is a complete waste of time and taxpayer money. If we as taxpayers are going to subsidize higher education in this county, do we really want to be contributing to stupid studies such as these?

Oil Ball

The "lying-lefties" are at it again. Obama has put forth a bunch of claims about oil production in the US that is not only embellishing the facts but are downright lies. He claims that more oil is being produced under his presidency then in the last ten years. Yet it is only because of leases that where signed by Bush and Clinton. Obama has signed a record low amount of oil leases during his term. He also claims that he has opened up millions of miles of acres for oil exploration knowing full well that we won't be able to get anything from those lands. Obama needs to stop lying about and demonizing the oil companies.

Gas Prices Killing My Wallet

The rise in gas prices is going to start to get unbearable. Theses prices will start to affect the economy in a very negative way. Businesses will have to start by either rising the prices of the goods and services that they offer, or start cutting costs in other ways, like employee hours or employees altogether. We will see a huge rise in the cost of living as well as more unemployment.

Blame The Banks

It has become very popular for the Democrat party to find people, businesses, and financial institutions to blame for the problems that where ultimately caused by bad government policies. For his entire presidency Obama has blamed the current economic problems not only on President Bush, but also on the banks and Wall Street. In a speech he gave recently he basically blamed the banks for the meltdown of the housing market. That is downright dishonest.

Now don't get me wrong, I am not saying that banks weren't a part of it. Some banks did use the bubble to partake in some very shady behavior. That being said, the banks would not have had the opportunity to, or been forced to, give out all the bad loans that caused the current problem had it not been for two pieces of legislation: The Community Reinvestment Act and The Commodity Futures Modernization Act.

The Community Reinvestment Act was originally passed by Congress and signed by Jimmy Carter in 1977. It urged banks to give out loans to low income families who would not normally have been able to qualify for those programs. Most banks at the time didn't really pay attention to the bill so in 1995, during the Clinton administration, the bill was changed so that there would be more oversight on the banks to make sure that they where giving out loans to low income families, particularly to african americans. Clinton also signed the Commodity Futures Modernization Act which deregulated over-the-counter derivatives. Financial institutions started bundling up high risk loans with low risk loans and trading portions of them to other financial institutions, such as Fannie May and Freddie Mac, to hedge against future forclosures of the high risk loans. When the bubble burst in 2008 and we had a record number of home forclosures, the hedge funds couldn't hold up and the whole system unraveled.

Now, instead of telling the truth, the Obama administration wants to leave the banks holding the smoking gun.

Contraceptive Ghost

This whole contraceptives thing has just gotten blown way out of proportion. It is such a non issue. Why is it that there seems to be this fear that people won't have access to them. They are everywhere. You can get condoms at any supermarket, pharmacy, or gas station. There also a lot of organizations that give condoms and birth control pills away for free.

This issue has to be made up so that attention will be taken away from more important, real issues like gas prices and the economy. From what I can tell, the only people really falling for it are the mainstream media. They are reporting it as though it is a real threat. Let's just hope there aren't too many left wing sheeple out there who are falling for it as well.

Occupy Hypocrisy

I know that they occupy movement is a little old and played out, and hopefully goes away soon. But with any left wing political movement, there is a great deal of hypocrisy and ignorance that goes into it.

The hypocrisy is in the fact that they target greed and yet they always talk about redistributing wealth. For me there is nothing more greedy than expecting to get money from someone else that you didn't earn. If someone works hard and makes a lot of money, then they have earned the right to keep it. It's theirs, they worked for it. No one else should be able to lay claim to it just because they think it's not fair that someone else has more money than them. That is greedy.

The occupy movement is also very ignorant to reality. I read the "declaration" of the occupation New York over the weekend and not only is one third of it based on lies and misinformation, the rest is completely misguided. Now, I have to note that they really haven't officially said how they will achieve their demands. But from what I have gathered through communications with members on social media channels is that they want the government to step in and make things right by taking from the rich and redistributing it out to everyone else. They are ignorant to the fact that government policies is what has created the corruption we have right now. There where a lot of policies during FDR's administration (like the AAA and the NRA) that actually hurt small business and put more power in the hands of large corporations and farms. FDR also set a new standard for political patronage and pork barrel spending. It is policies like this that have caused a lot of the problems we have today. If businesses have nothing to gain from lobbying washington, they wont do it. Congress has gotten into the habit of over stepping the constitution by spending money that they are not constitutionally at liberty to spend and creating bureaus that they are not constitutionally at liberty to create. (See how the word liberty is used. This is the mindset of the modern day "liberals." They think they have the liberty to spend your money how they see fit.)

If we hold congress to the limitations that are written out in the constitution then businesses and special interests will have nothing to gain through government legislation because there won't be any.

Mud Slinger

There have been some interesting developments in the republican presidential primaries of late and the newest came yesterday with Rick Santorum and his strategy to do robocalls to democrats urging them to vote for him because Romney didn't support the bailouts of Chrysler and GM. Now I will have to say that it is an odd move considering Santorum doesn't agree with the bailouts either. By asking someone to vote for you because of your opponent's stance on an issue would usually make that voter come to the conclusion that you have the opposite view. But in this case Romney and Santorum pretty much agree. So this is a strange tactic by Santorum.

The real irony of the situation though, is what Romney said about the tactic. He said that it was an "outrageous and a terrible dirty trick." Romney also said, "this is a new low for his campaign and that's saying something." Now is it just me or is this the "pot calling the kettle black?" Romney has ran, by far, the dirtiest campaign yet. His whole platform is mud slinging. He can't run on his record because he is way too moderate and when he ran against Kennedy for Massachusetts Senator he was running as a progressive and attacking Kennedy from the left. Now Romney claims to be the only true conservative in the race even though his record doesn't show it. That is why, whenever another candidate gets close to him in the polls, his platform is to tear the other person down.

Real Unemployment

The Bureau of Labor Statistics is reporting that the unemployment numbers have improved by .2% (down from 8.5% to 8.3%) . Even though it is talked about by a lot of talk show hosts, a lot of people don't realize that the BLS unemployment numbers are misleading. When Bill Clinton was president he had the BLS stop counting the unemployed who had been so for more than 12 months and had given up finding work. It also doesn't count the people who need a full time job but are only finding part time jobs. The true unemployment rate is much higher than is being reported. I have read a lot of different statistical studies that have the true unemployment rate somewhere between 16% and 22%. That is absolutely astounding.

Unemployment Line

It does look like there is a little life in the economy. The stock market is starting to look a lot better and is closing at it's highest point in a few years. But we need to realize that we are not out of the woods yet. Unemployment is still terrible and we need to realize that the "degressive" democrats in congress wrote a lot of the bills passed in Obama's first two years so they wouldn't go into affect until after his first term (hopefully his only term) as president. The economy won't start feeling the affects of Obamacare or the "Stimulus" Bill for another few years. I just hope that the average citizen can be educated on this before election time. If the the stock market is still looking good come November I can assure you that it will be a big part of Obama's platform.

Oil Reserves

Once again the "progressive" left (I like to refer to them as regressive) refuse to let us become self reliant when it comes to oil. Experts believe that we may have more oil in ANWR then they have in Saudi Arabia, but the government refuses to permit the oil companies to drill there. And even though the keystone pipeline would be bringing oil in from Canada it would still be a better option than shipping it here from the middle east. It would keep us from sending money to governments that help fund terrorism.

Both drilling in ANWR and building the keystone pipeline would also increase the oils supply in the US, therefore forcing the price for oil down. That would be better for everyone. It would drive down costs on everything because it would cost less to ship products across the country. It would also create more high paying jobs in the oil industry.

The Obama Corporate Tax Cut

I know I am not the only one to see this tax cut as a political move. He is hoping it will help him get re-elected, something he seems pretty confident is going to happen. Clinton made a move to the middle to get re-elected too. Most of it is just for talking points though, so he can say he cut taxes. We will still have the worlds fourth largest corporate tax rate and there will also be more regulations added to corporations with less tax deductions. I'm sure that after the election taxes will go back up again.

Iran Sanctions

I was surprised that Obama and his cabinet actually took a stand on the issue of a nuclear Iran. But I am worried that when push comes to shove, Obama won't want to take the steps necessary to protect our country and the rest of the world. It seems to me, he is hiding behind the sanctions, or that they are blinding him to what is going on. Sanctions aren't going to stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

Just as accommodation didn't stop the Soviets from building up their arms reserves during the cold war, sanctions aren't going to stop the Iranians from reaching their ultimate goal, using nukes to destroy Israel and the US. Nuclear weapons in the hands of the Iranians is a very scary proposition indeed.

Identity Politics

Once again the democrats are using identity politics to try to get what they want. Senator Harry Reid said this in response to the fact that Marco Rubio was holding up the confirmation of Mari Carmen Aponte.

“In Nevada, ambassadorial nominee Mari Carmen Aponte is seen by the Puerto Rican community, the Hispanic community, as really somebody who is an up-and-rising star. … I just think it’s a mistake for someone who is supposedly representing Hispanic issues to do what [Rubio] has done”

Why is Marco Rubio supposed to be representing the Hispanic community? I thought he is a senator. I thought he is supposed to represent the American people and in particular those in Florida. And the last time I checked, Florida has a diverse population full of people from various socioeconomic and racial backgrounds. He is not supposed to represent hispanics just because he is of Cuban descent. He is supposed to uphold the constitution.

FINALLY!!

I had been leaning toward Rick Santorum for the last month or so and now I am behind him 100%. We have needed a candidate that will come out and talk about the issues that matter and to do it with common sense.

The use of the words "income inequality" is a ploy used in class warfare. To ask for income equality is to ask for tyranny because it requires the government to control outcomes. And the only way they can do that is through force and coercion, to take, usually by taxation, what one man earned through his own hard work and ability and to give it to someone else. As Milton Friedman once said:

" a society that puts equality before freedom will get neither. A society that puts freedom before equality will get a high degree of both."

What is so great about our country, and this is precisely how our founders intended it, is that there is equality of opportunity. It allows people the freedom to take risks and become successful. True, some fail but they often pick themselves back up and try again. Most successful people didn't get there because it was handed to them, they learned from their failures. A great example of this is the wealthy people in america. The majority of the most wealthy people in this country didn't get there because they inherited it. If you look at Forbes list of the ten wealthiest American's, only the Walton's inherited their wealth. What this means is that the rest earned their wealth through hard work and innovation, something that would be impossible in any other system of government. I will end it with another great quote from Milton Friedman:

"The only cases in which the masses have escaped from...grinding poverty...the only cases in recorded history, are where they have had capitalism and largely free trade. If you want to know where the masses are worse off, worst off, it’s exactly in the kinds of societies that depart from that. So that the record of history is absolutely crystal clear, that there is no alternative way so far discovered of improving the lot of the ordinary people that can hold a candle to the productive activities that are unleashed by the free-enterprise system."

Backbone

When the story broke that the senate would support military action in Iran to keep them from getting nuclear weapons, I was a little surprised. But then I realized that a lot of the senators backing the action where democrats, I was completely shocked. Democrats with a backbone?! You just don't come across that very often.

Thank God for that

About a couple weeks ago President Obama said this in an interview with Matt Lauer. It was very shocking. Not only is that the way it was intended to be, but he makes it sound like he didn't realize it until now. It's called "separation of powers" and the founding fathers made it that way to prevent tyranny. They didn't want too much power in the hands of either one person, a minority, or the majority. That way every person has equal representation as well as protection for their individual liberties.

Fascism in America

I came across this poster the other day and it is quite frightening. I am sure that most of the agitators involved in the occupy movement aren't aware that the movement they are lobbying for is fascism. But that, unfortunately is how all of these eventual totalitarian movements start, by what Lenin referred to as "useful idiots." The word fascism is so often misused and thrown around today (usually by fascists or other types of socialists, ironically enough) that most people don't realize that they are using the word incorrectly. I don't have time to get into the entire history and nuances of fascism here but I can explain how it relates to this poster.

A large part of the history of fascism can be traced back to a man by the name of Georges Sorel. Here is an excerpt from the book "Liberal Fascism" by Jonah Goldberg. He articulated Sorel's contribution better then I can.

"...Sorel's greatest contribution to the left--and Mussolini in particular--lay elsewhere: in his concept of "myths," which he defined as "artificial combinations invented to give the appearance of reality to hopes that inspire men in their present activity." For Sorel, the Second Coming of Christ was a quintessential myth because it's underlying message--Jesus is coming, look busy--was crucial for organizing men in desirable ways.

For syndicalists at the time and, ultimately, for leftist revolutionaries of all stripes, Sorel's myth of the general strike was equivalent to the Second Coming. According to this myth, if all workers declared a general strike, it would crush capitalism and render the proletariate--rather than the meek--the inheritors of the earth. Whether the implementation of a general strike would actually have this result didn't matter, according to Sorel."

This poster calls for a "general strike" against the 1%, another myth created by the occupy movement.

If the occupy movement really wanted to reign in corporate corruption they should have joined the "tea party" movement. The best way to limit corruption is to limit the size and scope of government so Wall Street, corporations, or any other special interest is rendered incapable of lobbying for preferential treatment through legislation.

Susan G Komen

I had never even realized that the Susan G Komen foundation was donating money to Planned Parenthood until this whole scandal started. Why would an organization that focuses mainly on abortion and birth control need money from a breast cancer foundation? Especially when evidence has shown that abortion can increase a womans' risk of getting breast cancer.

At first I was glad to hear that they stopped donating money to Planned Parenthood, then a little upset that they changed their mind. Now I will never donate money to the Susan G Komen foundation. I do understand, after I did some research, that the money Planned Parenthood receives is for breast exams. But any of their own money that they don't have to use for breast exams, or any other service they offer, will ultimately go to fund abortions and I want no part of that.
